Day 03

Nikko

We catch the train to Nikko (approx. 2 hrs). On our train journey to Nikko, we have a chance to appreciate the spectacular countryside that makes Japan such a fabulous destination. Nikko has been a sacred site since the middle of the 8th century and the shrines and temples dotted throughout the area are inspiring evidence of the city's glory.

A visit to Toshugu Shrine in particular is a must see. The mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the warlord who controlled all of Japan and whose shogunate lasted 250 years, the shrine contrasts with the traditional minimalist style commonly used throughout Japan. Instead, every corner of this monument is covered in intricate gold-leaf and lacquerwork, paintings and patterns. Alternatively, you can go up to Chuzenji Lake and Yumoto for hiking and natural hot springs. Our ryokan(inn) in Nikko has shared facilities and is located within walking distance of the world heritage area.

that it's mind-boggling. The crystal white sand, the clear blue water,he corals, the Manza

We just do not have this kind of beaches in our country. The ocean has so many arieties of blue nature made reefs, well it's pure heaven.

Free time to walk around, swim around, or at the most you can just float in the blue cean for as long as eternity.

This location is also great for a commemorative photo.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium

The Churaumi Aquarium is widely considered Japan's best aquarium. It is the main attraction of the Ocean Expo Park on the former grounds of the 1975 International Ocean Expo in northern Okinawa Honto. The aquarium was completely redesigned and reopened in 2002.

The highlight of a visit to the Churaumi Aquarium is the massive Kuroshio Tank, one of the largest in the world. The tank takes its name from the warm Kuroshio current which plays a large part in the variety of Okinawa's of marine life. The tank contains a wide variety of species, the most striking of which are the giant whale sharks and manta rays.

The aquarium is spread out over three floors with the entrance on the third floor and the exit on the first floor. Directly after the entrance there is a pool where visitors can touch living starfish and seashells with their own hands. Next there is a tank with the world's first large scale exhibit of living coral.
